“ I am the behaviour advisor at RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter and Andy helps us with some of the challenging cases we see at our shelter. Andy (and his dogs!) have been a fantastic support and with his expertise we have successfully rehabilitated and rehomed some very troubled dogs. He has such a great approach with the dogs and clearly has a huge love and passion for what he does. Andy is a massive advocate for force free, positive training and I think he is making a big difference in getting this message out there in our local area”

Andrew has been holding behavioural clinics at our practice Molecare Vets, Newton Abbot. He has been an invaluable addition to our practice allowing us to provide a service we would not normally be able to offer. We have received outstanding feedback from our clinic clients and thoroughly enjoy working with him,

We could not be more thrilled to connect through, “Do No Harm” care and training methods with Train Positive Dog Behaviour & Training. Any dog would be very fortunate indeed to be under Andrew and company’s competent and gentle wings. Linda Michaels, M.A., Psychology
Andrew helped my dog throughout his anxiety, He was unable to be left for 5 mins without getting panic attacks now he loves his routine thanks to Andy’s expertise and our hard input we have a stress free Teddy. Thank you Andy love debbie, carole and teddy. (Posted on Freeindex)
Our dog Coco won ‘cutest puppy’ and ‘best in show’ awards last year at the Blue Cross Oddicombe Dog Show. We were given loads of lovely prizes including puppy food and treats, toys and a pet shop voucher. But the best prize had to be the free training sessions with Andrew Hale at Train Positive. He clearly knows what he is doing and has a real passion for dogs. The positive training he teaches is amazing and exactly what a dog needs, no punishment lead training like a lot of other dog trainers use! We highly recommend train positive if you are having any sort of problems with your dog or even just for general obedience lessons. Rose and Coco
Outstanding 1:1 puppy training (Posted on Yell.com)
Andrew is outstanding, he provided simple, practical methods for the whole family to follow. Having never owned a dog before we we’re incredibly nervous and unsure of our approach. Andrew provided support, rationale and reassurance. Within two hours I felt more confident about handling the puppy stage and entry to adolescence. We have a beautiful, family friendly dog that often draws comments from people (as a chocolate lab her default is bonkers!). I credit so much of this to Andrew’s intervention and support. I would not hesitate to recommend Andrew and his services, and feel incredibly lucky Andrew’s involvement started at such a young age, preventing any stressful wobbles.
Andy is a great dog trainer! His methods are science led and really do work! We have two dogs one we have had since a puppy called mya and one we rehomed called zues. Zues is a huskamute and was just over a year old when we got him, he had spent most of his early life in doors in a crate. He was crazy on the lead when we got him, he was nervous and everything over stimulated him. We began to wounder what we had let ourselves in for, so called for the help of a trainer recommended to us by the vets. The trainers methods were old school and very correction led which we did not like and therefore never used with zues so the issues continued until we met Andy. He uses positive reinforcing which for zues was the best way due to his many anxieties. Almost a year after we got zues and after 6 months of Andy’s support and guidence zues is a totally different dog, it’s been hard work but totally worth it we couldn’t imagine life without our big baby! And a lot of that we owe to Andy!! Louise (From Facebook)
Andy and Nat are a truly excellent team and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
I work with students who can no longer access mainstream education and who often struggle with social and emotional behavioural difficulties. One particular student I work with has a keen interest in animal care and having a female labrador puppy at home, didn’t quite know where to start in training her. As part of our intervention afternoon, I sought the advice of Andy, who put me in touch with Nat who led a fantastic practical tutorial. The holistic approach they adopt really resonated with us and the practical advice was second to none. We both took away so much from our session with Nat and cannot thank you enough.
Thank you both for helping us and giving up your time to accommodate and enrich our intervention afternoon. Rachel (From Facebook)
Andy was recommended to us by another trainer who couldn’t fit us in. I’m so glad we have him. We adopted a rescue dog 3 months ago. She was almost shut down and was anxious about everything. Without Andy’s expertise we would have fallen at the first hurdle. He’s invaluable with anxious dogs and their owners. Our dog is a different dog to the one we bought home and with Andy’s continued help we learn new things every day. S.Moates (From Facebook)
We had lost all hope with our dog which had developed fear aggression and had become a nightmare to walk. We were amazed by the knowledge and patience of Andrew and loved his kind and scientific approach to helping Tilly with her issues. The change in her has been dramatic and we can now enjoy walks out with her again. Thank you Andrew – can’t recommend him enough Elaine B. (From Bark.com)
I can highly recommend Andy for his knowledge, professionalism and practical training and handling skills. He’s greatly helped my dog who has dog aggression / fear issues using up to date behaviour techniques and his lovely stooge dogs. She’s been able to learn in a positive way from the choices she makes, in a very safe environment. I can’t thank him enough for his help. Mrs F (From Bark.com)
Andrew has really helped us with my dog Alfie. He suffers with anxiety issues, and with Andrews advice we have already seen a difference in 3 weeks.
He keeps in regular contact with us, and we can contact him if we have any questions.
I can not recommend Andrew highly enough, and I am so glad that we found him to help us. Andrew Minns (From Google reviews)
I found Andy on the Internet and really liked what I read. As a family we would like to thank you for all you have taught us. Your love for dogs is obvious but also your caring manner with their owners is great too. Andy, I highly recommend you and would like to say a huge thank you for everything. ☺ Julie Duffield (From Google Reviews)
We are so pleased that we chose Andy. From the start he was incredibly helpful over the telephone, then spent a lot of time with us and our dogs to improve the situation. We couldn’t imagine how we could change the situation beforehand but Andy gave us so much help, advice and reassurance even after the first session we felt much more hopeful. Following his advice has meant that not only do we have a much better understanding of why our dogs act the way they do but the problem has been almost resolved and we know how to continue to improve the situation. Andy broke the changes we needed to make down into manageable chunks that were practical and fitted in with our lives so it did not feel overwhelming. I found it useful that Andy was able to provide handouts and videos so that I could keep going over these in my own time and can be contacted so easily if there are any other problems. The way that Andy was with our dogs and how they have responded, it is clear that theory of positive reinforcement training fits. It’s such a relief to know that our dogs are much happier and that we now have the knowledge to approach difficult situations in a better way in the future. I would highly recommend to anyone and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Andy. M.Penwill (From Google reviews)
Andy has time and patience for dogs and their owners, he is amazingly calm, he always praises and encourages all efforts made by both no matter how small. I found this brilliant as I was not always sure I was going in the right direction, such a boost for your confidence having that support. Zanzie had what I considered a minor problem, she flatly refused to get into the car, but Andy did not consider this trivial at all and gave us loads of his time and expertise to overcome the problem, it was very reassuring to know he would quickly answer e-mails or return a phone call if I had any concerns or doubts…beats the NHS any day!!! I found it particularly reassuring that Andy would check in with us between sessions to assess our progress. With the techniques Andy put in place for us Zanzie now jumps into the car without any prompting, brilliant!! Thanks Andy, we made it this year to the puppy re-union last month in Cornwall, Zanzie met up again with her mom and 5 of her 9 siblings after 2 years…what fun that was. Andy I cannot sing your praises highly enough, thank you so much.
Licks and tail wags Zanzie, Kind regards Anne
